Save Money, Fill Your Pet’s Prescriptions at Hy-Vee

by Kaitlin Anderson, RD, LD, Community Relations Coordinator

The Rochester Hy-Vee pharmacies can now fill pet-specific medications. While we have been filling pet medications such as antibiotics and allergy medications for many years, this new service has been expanded to include flea and tick medications, heartworm, NSAIDs and hundreds of other pet medications at affordable prices.

According to the American Pet Products Association, approximately 65 percent of households in the United States own a pet. Our expansion in the pet prescription area is another way we are helping our customers save time and money.

To participate, customers simply need to ask their veterinarian for a prescription for their pet and then bring it to Hy-Vee to be filled, similar to how a doctor prescribes medication for a person.

Customers are able to automatically fill their pets’ prescriptions through Hy-Vee’s Repeat Refill program. Additionally, delivery and drive-thru pharmacy service is available as well as mobile notifications where customers are able to track the status of their prescription with the Hy-Vee mobile app.

Audra Rinard, Pharmacy Manager at the West Circle Drive Hy-Vee, was interviewed by KIMT News 3 about this new service on Monday, April 25.  Click HERE to watch the video.
